Blue didn’t have the easiest beginning as a puppy. He and several of his 8-week-old siblings were found on the side of the road in the deserts of New Mexico. Luckily, they were rescued and brought to a local shelter, but Blue’s challenges didn’t stop there.
Just a few days after being saved, he started showing symptoms of parvovirus and became extremely ill.
He nearly didn’t make it...
Contracting Parvo at such a young age wasn’t just a short-term scare—it impacted Blue’s development as a puppy. Being exposed to the elements on the roadside and suffering from the virus meant he went through critical developmental stages with poor nutrition and under extreme stress. Blue needed dedicated care to catch up. That’s where the amazing people at Rescue Rovers came in.
Rescue Rovers is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that steps in when shelters can no longer care for dogs. In Blue’s case, they placed him and a few of his siblings into foster homes to receive the love and support they desperately needed. When I first met Blue, he was a bubbly little pup with no signs of the trauma he’d endured early in life. Thanks to the hard work of Rescue Rovers, I was able to adopt a playful (and potty-trained!) 3-month-old puppy.
Blue’s Bright Future
Today, Blue is a lively little lab with boundless energy. If I didn’t know his backstory, I never would have guessed what he’d been through. His resilience is remarkable, and it’s a true testament to the power of dedicated care and love. Thanks to Rescue Rovers, Blue not only survived but thrived, and I’m forever grateful to them for giving him the chance to live his best life.
