Essential means that they must be present in food as they cannot be produced at all or in sufficient quantities by the body to meet the needs. Make sure your pup gets these essentials amino acids with our dehydrated dog food.
This unique ingredient know as dysphagia starch, has been promoted as a form of carbohydrate that resists digestion by salivary enzymes, especially amylase. One of the key factors in formulating our dog food with dysphagia starch is its mode of action. First, it is a combination of modified and natural ingredients such as maltodextrin, potato starch, xanthan gum and potassium chloride which as a team, makes the whole recipe reach higher viscosity level, making it more palatable for your pup.

Citrus fruits are composed of many organic compounds and metabolites which have many excellent health benefits. One of them is their fiber content, divided almost equally between soluble (fibers being fermented and utilized in the colon of the animals) and insoluble (more complex carbohydrates which have mechanical action on the digestive system but still going through staying mostly intact). The orange bitter peel also influences final food texture and mouthfeel for your pup.
Whole flaxseeds contain a very high level of oil (41%) as well as an excellent fiber source. Flaxseed oil is the best vegetable source of Omega-3 fatty acids (ALA) as its fat is made of 54% of it.

Cranberries are concentrated in antioxidant compounds. Their main contribution is that they also contain organic acids.
Carrots are a well-known low calorie and low-fat root vegetable offering an excellent source of soluble fiber which helps maintain firm stools. They also provide an excellent concentration of Beta-Carotene, a carotenoid that is an antioxidant and a precursor to Vitamin A. All typical benefits of carrots are maintained in the dehydration process of our dog food.
Apples are a great source of energy as carbohydrates for dogs. They also provide a quality source of fiber to help your pup’s digestive system. Also, apples contain high amounts of vitamin A and vitamin C for some added benefits to your dog.
Papayas are a high-quality food source offering antioxidants such as catechins (phenolic compounds), carotenoids (precursor of vitamin A for dogs) and lycopene (another pigment of the carotenoid family). The papaya also offers excellent dietary fiber that can help digestive functions while providing a feeling of fullness and is a major source of papain, a protease (enzyme) helping to digest proteins.
Parsley isn’t just for your dinner preparations! It tastes great to pups as well! Parsley is a species of flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to the central Mediterranean region.
Fructooligosaccharides are essentially carbohydrates that are not digested in the stomach or small intestine (i.e. non-caloric) and are not utilized by pathogens. Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are carbohydrates derived from chicory roots, sugar beet or sugar cane and used as food source for the naturally present good bacteria.
Yeast Extract (Mannan-oligosaccharides) are carbohydrates derived from yeasts cellular wall which can help limit the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria (such as salmonella and E. coli mainly). These bacteria will attach to MOS instead of becoming attached to intestinal wall cells and are then excreted with stools.
A mixture of fumaric, citric, lactic, and malic acids encapsulated and protected by fat in order to ensure their release in the intestine instead of the stomach are also included.
Thyme extract is a source of natural essential oils including thymol, carvacrol, and phenols. Obtained by steam distillation of thyme leaves.
Also known as locust bean, Carob, is a species of flowering evergreen shrub or tree of the pea family. It is widely cultivated for its edible pods (fruit).
This is a source of butyric acid, a short-chain volatile fatty acid. Bacteria produce butyric acid by fermentation (e.g. of plant fiber or other undigested carbohydrates) and thus provide nourishment to the cells lining the large intestine.
Yucca Schidigera is a flowering plant found in the Chihuahuan Desert, the Mojave Desert and other areas of the southwest United States.
Although it can contribute to meeting choline chloride (a B vitamin) and methionine requirements, betaine, naturally found in sugar beets, is more properly described as a permethylated amino acid. It is a cell membrane structure component and is involved in neurotransmitter synthesis and methionine metabolism.
Also called vitamin Bt, L-Carnitine is an amino acid that has an important role in the utilization of fat as a source of energy and hence in weight control. The body obtains it either by endogenous synthesis or from foods such as red meat. Its primary function is to facilitate the transport of long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria, inside which they are converted into energy. These fatty acids cannot otherwise cross the mitochondrial membrane. Only a certain % of the L-carnitine requirement is met by synthesis in the body, so supplementation is often a positive element for the metabolism.
Beta-glucans are natural polysaccharides extracted from autolyzed yeast. They are composed of only glucose in the beta-1,3 linkage.
New Zealand Green Mussel is a species of shellfish, Perna canaliculus, unique to the New Zealand marine environment. It is a rich natural source of glucosamine, chondroitin, glycogens, Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.
Laying hens reared in a controlled environment are exposed to viruses and bacteria that cause diseases in domestic pets. The hens produce antibodies (immunoglobulin) specific for the pathogens, whether the disease concerns them or not, and a portion of these antibodies is incorporated into the eggs.
Vitamin A’s primary role is as a regulator of cell structure metabolism combined with its action in vision and normal bone development, making it an essential part of the overall health of your pet.
Vitamin D, known as the sunshine vitamin, has an important effect on the use of calcium in the body of dogs. It is essential for the development of bones and teeth as well as for muscular and cellular functions.
Present in various forms called tocopherols, vitamin E is particularly required by the body as an antioxidant, preventing oxidation (therefore deterioration) of fat present in the body. It is also associated with cellular respiration and DNA synthesis.
Vitamin from the B complex group, thiamine (vitamin B1) is essential for proper metabolism function through its impact on the transformation of glucose into energy and its involvement in the nervous and muscular systems.
Essential for energy transfer, riboflavin (vitamin B2) is directly associated with the metabolism of lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins.
D-Calcium Pantothenate is required for the metabolism of lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins, pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) also helps in the development of mucous membranes and the growth and resistance of the skin.
Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6) is directly associated with the metabolism of amino acids, therefore proteins and more particularly that of tryptophan. It also has an impact on carbohydrate metabolism by helping the use of glycogen in muscles and liver.
Vitamin B12 is an important growth stimulant that helps in blood formation and the nervous system as well as tissue maintenance. It is also involved in DNA and red blood cells production as well as lipid, carbohydrate and protein metabolism.
Involved in the body energy transfer, niacin, like riboflavin, is directly involved in the energy production from lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins. Niacin helps to make sure all other parts of their diet are being utilized correctly.
Biotin participates in general metabolism by helping to transform food into energy and intervenes in the fatty and amino acids formation.
As a component of phospholipids, choline is essential in the production and maintenance of cell structure, and as a component of acetylcholine, it is important and active in nerve impulse transmission.
Macro-minerals are essential for solid structures such as skeleton (mainly calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium), as well as for enzymatic activity (metabolism) and for the transfer of nutrients from the digestive system to the circulatory system (mainly sodium and potassium). They are also essential in maintaining the balance of electrolytes, therefore in the balance of body fluids.
