Support black owned dog businesses like these 8 dog accessories, training, grooming, and lifestyle companies

With February being Black History Month we wanted to take some time to highlight a few black-owned dog businesses. From accessories to grooming to training and more, these founders and brands have created innovative and inspiring products to create better relationships between dogs and pet parents, and help pets in need.

1. SIR DOGWOOD

Dogs want to look good too. Sir Dogwood sells curated dogwear including accessories and apparel. This Chicago based company features a curated collection of charms, trinkets, collars, belt bags, sweaters, and so much more.

Plus, part of their monthly proceeds go to One Tail At A Time, a Chicago non-profit whose mission is to end pet homelessness.

2. SIR DARIUS BROWN

After the devastation of Hurricane Harvey and Irma, Darius saw the need to help displaced dogs and cats find their forever homes. Darius started creating bows to donate to shelters across the country. Today, this 14 year old philanthropist and entrepreneur donates a portion of his proceeds to the ASPCA and is using his platform to help our furry friends in need.

3. HOUSE DOGGE

This sustainably designed dog toy and accessory company was started by designer Angela Meldin. Angela has worked with brands like Nike and North Face and now brings her creativity to the dog industry. A percentage of sales are donated to nonprofit organizations that are rescuing and healing health challenged, homeless, unwanted, neglected, and/or abused dogs.

4. ENJOY-A-BOWL

As a Veterinarian, Joe J. Owens wanted to help find a solution to pet parents’ problems, by helping dogs that are picky eaters, dogs with diabetes, unmanageable diseases, pancreatitis, and obesity. Enjoy-A-Bowl’s mission is to keep dogs healthy and create solutions to pet wellness.

Enjoy-a-Bowl is an easy-to-clean two part system, in which the lower bowl holds the foods your dog craves.
